Photography is my ninth or tenth profession. (I stopped counting)

Before this, I trained as a film editor and built Shor Sharaba, a brand that celebrated art, design and the everyday chaos of being alive. I have ADHD, so my brain is usually following seventeen thoughts, noticing six other things and becoming completely obsessed with one of them.

It is fast, curious and very fond of connections.

Perhaps that is why I notice things. Usually before most people do.

Of all the things I notice, people are my favourite.

I love how beautifully complicated we are. The stories we tell, the parts we leave out, the people we become around those we love and the moments in which we surprise even ourselves.

Heartshots is where my fascination with people finds a form.

We begin with conversation, always. I want to understand what this part of your life feels like before I decide how it should be photographed.

The camera comes later.

My art practice follows the same curiosity through people, places, memory and belonging. I spent three years photographing the Garba at the Lukshmi Vilas Palace until a project about a city dancing became A Love Letter to Baroda. It has since been exhibited in Baroda and Bombay.

Everything I make begins when something pulls me closer.

A person. A place. A question. A city dancing.

I look. I listen. I return.

Sometimes it becomes a photograph.

Occasionally, an entire love letter.
